Kanye West’s housing project has suffered a serious setback, after authorities reportedly ordered the dome-shaped buildings be destroyed.
According to TMZ, prototypes for the star’s YEEZY HOME social housing project have been demolished following orders imposed by the Los Angeles County Division of Public Works, as a result of the rapper hadn’t obtained the right permits.
The project, which comprised of enormous, conical, wooden structures, had been constructed near the house the star shares with spouse Kim Kardashian in Calabasas, California. It’s unknown whether or not the star plans to relocate the development web site following the demolition.
The 42-year-old’s foray into structure was revealed in a profile piece for Forbes magazine in July, with reporter Zack O’Malley Greenburg describing Kanye taking him on a tour of housing prototypes “impressed by (Star Wars character) Luke Skywalker’s childhood house”.
“West has been working with a workforce to design prefabricated constructions that sport the identical austere aesthetic, with the aim of deploying them as low-income housing models,” he wrote of the Gold Digger hitmaker’s plans.
