FRIPP ISLAND, SC– A family checking out South Carolina fished a huge bundle from the ocean, took it to their rental home and opened it up, discovering about 44 pounds of drug.
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Maj. Bob Bromage told news outlets Monday that the household was walking along Fripp Island when they spotted the trash bag-wrapped plan floating in the water. They dragged it onto the beach and lugged it to their leasing in a golf cart, later on slicing it open to find bricks of white powder. At that point, they figured they ‘d much better call police.
Authorities assessed the cocaine’s worth at more than $600,000. Authorities are working to determine its origin.
Bromage stated narcotics don’t regularly clean up in the county. He thinks Cyclone Dorian may have pressed it ashore.
