Dunkin’ has a menu that’s filled with an apparently unlimited list of drink items, but it’s now stepping into uncharted area (for them, anyhow). The coffee and donut restaurant chain is checking out bubble tea in select places.
Bubble tea has a tea base that’s combined with milk, fruit, and fruit juices, and the bottom is embellished with chewy tapioca pearls. While Taiwan is referred to as the boba capital of the world, bubble tea has made its way all over the world– and now to among the most well-known chains in the United States and beyond.
The beverages that are being evaluated this summer are Popping Bubble Iced Tea and Dunkin’ Refreshers, Sparkling Dunkin’ Refreshers, Summer Shandies, Bubble Iced Coffee and Tea, and Layered Iced Tea, according to MassLive.
The Popping Bubble Iced Tea is made from Dunkin’s timeless iced green tea that is coupled with the new strawberry popping bubbles. Those popping bubbles “burst in your mouth for an explosion of strawberry sweetness with each sip,” Dunkin’ said in a statement. “Guests can also enjoy Popping Bubble Dunkin’ Refreshers, with strawberry popping bubbles added to Dunkin’ Refreshers’ combination of iced green tea, flavored fruit concentrate, and B vitamins for a boost of brightness and energy. Both are served with a special, extra-wide Bubble paper straw.”
These beverages will readily available at select locations in Massachusetts for a minimal time.
These are the locations that will be carrying the test run:
- 625 E. Main St., Westfield
- 127 N. Elm St., Westfield
- 1056 North Rd., Westfield
- 142 Main St., Haydenville
- 55 Damon Rd., Northampton
They’ll be on the trial menu from July 1 to Aug. 18. With any luck, they’ll be a hit in the Northeast and make a more nationwide level.
