“The Michelle Obama Podcast” is the first exclusive deal to come out of the multi-year partnership signed between Higher Ground and Spotify. Higher Ground is the production company founded by the former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama.
Hosted by Michelle Obama, the podcast will premiere exclusively on Spotify on July 29. It will be available to both free and premium users across the world.
According to the companies, the series will feature the host’s conversations with her near and dear ones, and will highlight “the relationships that shape us, from siblings and close friends to partners, parents and mentors to our relationship with ourselves and our health.”
Announcing the podcast, Dawn Ostroff, Spotify’s chief content and advertising business officer said, “We believe that audiences across the globe will be inspired by these most candid, most human and most personal conversations between First Lady Michelle Obama and her guests.”
Spotify released a promotional video for the podcast today.
The former First Lady says what she loves the most about these podcast conversations is that “they’re topics and issues we’re all dealing with, no matter what’s going on.”
In a statement, she said, “My hope is that this series can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and sort through so many of the questions we’re all trying to answer in our own lives.”
The statement continues, “Perhaps most of all, I hope this podcast will help listeners open up new conversations — and hard conversations — with the people who matter most to them. That’s how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another.”
The guests who are set to appear on the podcast include Marian and Craig Robinson, Conan O’Brien, Valerie Jarett, Michele Norris and Dr. Sharon Malone MD.
