Soon after its release, the movie gained huge popularity and success. It was the fourth highest-grossing anime movie worldwide. It grossed over $330 million USD worldwide.
According to the latest reports, award-winning director Lee Isaac Chung is set to helm the live and action remake of this tale. It has also been decided that the script of the movie will be redrafted as well. Lee Isaac Chung’s latest film, Minari, has garnered Grand Jury and Audience Awards at the Sundance Film Festival this year.
Paramount Pictures and J.J Abrams are producing this upcoming film.
According to Deadline, Your Name’s reimagined adaptation will centre around “Two teenagers discover they are magically and intermittently swapping bodies. When a disaster threatens to upend their lives, they must journey to meet and save their worlds.”
